The College of Textiles is just one piece of the ever-expanding Centennial Campus.
But 27 years ago, it was nothing more than a speck of dirt. It was on this day in 1988 that the groundbreaking for textiles’ new building was first announced in the Technician.
“If this $30 million investment says anything, it says the textiles industry is a number one priority at North Carolina State University,” said then-chancellor Bruce Poulton at a luncheon after the ceremony. “This building is really symbolic of our constant commitment to have the best college of textiles in the free world.”
