blog_series6NC State often seems like it’s busting at the seams, trying to provide enough classrooms, dorm rooms and parking spaces to keep up with a ever-growing student body.

And that was true in the university’s early days. On this day in 1931, the Technician reported that the rooms in all seven dormitories were full. The story said that NC State College was expected to have its greatest enrollment in its 43 years.

The exact numbers were not yet available, but campus officials said it was expected to top the 2,025 student who had enrolled at State the previous year.
