Taylor York, one of the Alumni Association’s student ambassadors, is one of five NC State students selected to attend next year’s ACC Student Leadership Symposium. York, a junior from Pilot Mountain, N.C., is the first student ambassador chosen for the honor.

Jim Gresham, coordinator of student programs for the Alumni Association, called York’s selection “an honor and a huge move for our program.”

taylor-york-photoYork, who is majoring in business administration, was part of the team of student ambassadors that planned and coordinated many of the events that took place on campus during the week of homecoming this year. York served as homecoming spirit director, overseeing more than 1,400 students who participated in the spirit competition.

York became a student ambassador as a way to give back to a university that had become a “second home” to her. “When I joined the Alumni Association Student Ambassador Program, I knew that was exactly what I would have the opportunity to do,” she says.

Taylor says she is looking forward to working on her teamwork skills and social awareness while at the symposium at Boston College.

“We will be focusing on volunteerism and social issues and I look forward to learning more ways for me to give back,” she says. “I want to bring this knowledge back to AASAP so that we can give back to NC State and the Alumni Association in even greater ways.”
