More than 50 alums and friends of NC State are gathering in New York City this evening before NC State plays at Madison Square Garden in the Jimmy V Men’s Basketball Classic.

But the Wolfpackers will do more than cheer for NC State. They will also be raising money to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Alumni are gathering at Brother Jimmy’s BBQ near The Garden for drinks and appetizers. Guests will be able to purchase a $10 wrist band for drink specials, with proceeds going to hurricane relief efforts.

And don’t forget, the Wolfpack will be wearing specially designed jerseys for tonight’s game. The jersey features a net design around the collar and shoulders, a reminder of Jim Valvano wearing the nets following NC State’s victory in the 1983 national championship game. The back of each jersey, where the players’ names are usually placed, says “Don’t Ever Give Up.”
