The NC State Alumni Association Board of Directors unanimously elected Paul Ridgeway ’82, ’90 MPA its new president last week. Ridgeway will take office Jan. 1, 2013 and replace current president Bob Barnhardt, whose term ends in December.
Ridgeway is a Superior Court judge in Wake County. In addition to receiving two degrees from NC State, he received his juris doctorate from Campbell University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the Campbell Law Review, and has also taught as an adjunct professor. Before becoming a judge, he worked in the private practice of law for 20 years.
Ridgeway has served on the Alumni Association’s board of directors the past eight years. His mother went to NC State and his father taught physics at the university, as well.
The Alumni Association, Ridgeway says, is an important way for him to stay devoted to NC State, a place he believes changes lives.
“It’s tremendously important to my life and to so many lives in the people of North Carolina,” he says. “I want to build on the great successes of my predecessors and continue to find creative ways to engage our alumni throughout the world.”
