Members of the NC State community will gather at the Bell Tower Friday morning for a Veterans Day ceremony. The ceremony will follow a run led by ROTC students.
The ceremony aims to recognize veterans, who will be given a small token of appreciation at the event and to honor the commitment to service, a cornerstone to NC State’s mission. The ROTC program at NC State trains officers for the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. Our university has also produced an impressive number of high-ranking officers, including a large number of admirals and generals.
One of those leaders, Benny Suggs ’69, the executive director of the NC State Alumni Association, will offer comments at the ceremony. It will also include a presentation to Chancellor Randy Woodson from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve to recognize NC State’s commitment to supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
The event is open to anyone. The two-mile run begins at 6 a.m. and the ceremony will commence at 6:30 a.m.
