culberson-150Frank Culberson, chairman and former chief executive of Rimkus Consulting Group in Houston, has been named the recipient of the 2011 Menscer Cup.

Culberson, a 1960 graduate of NC State, has dedicated his time and philanthropy to the College of Engineering, serving as president of the NC State Engineering Foundation.

Recently, Culberson and his wife, Doris, pledged $1 million over five years to endow two professorships in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, a reflection of Culberson’s belief that supporting the college’s faculty directly helps its students.

Culberson also served from 2005-08 as co-chair of Achieve! The Campaign for NC State, which surpassed its goals by raising $265.7 million.

The NC State University Foundation Board presents the Menscer Cup each year to individuals who have contributed to NC State through philanthropy and/or fundraising leadership. Darrell V. and Carolyn W. Menscer established an endowed fund to provide resources for the costs associated with the award. Darrell Menscer chaired the NC State Foundation and co-chaired the Campaign for NC State Students.

The 2011 Menscer Cup Award will be presented to Culberson on Oct. 27.
