building_image1Wolfpack Welcome Week continues today with several activities, including a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of the Talley Student Center.

NC State Bookstores and a few student organizations (such as student government) have temporarily moved to Harrelson Hall while the student center renovation is underway.

The renovation project was launched in recognition that Talley was no longer suited to a campus the size of NC State. Talley was built in 1972, when there were 14,000 students at NC State. There are now roughly 33,000 students at NC State.

The $120-million project is being funded through a combination of student fees and auxiliary service contributions.

The renovation is expected to be finished in phases, with Phase I to be completed in late 2013. The final work should be completed by late 2014. The university has a great website to keep track of the work underway at Talley.
