Several members of the incoming freshman class at NC State visited the New Hanover Public Library last night. They weren’t there to check out books, though. They were there to be welcomed into the NC State family.
It was the latest effort by the Alumni Association staff and local alumni network leaders to put out the welcome mat for graduating high school seniors who will be enrolling at NC State in the fall.
About 35 parents, alumni and incoming freshmen from New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties gathered at the New Hanover Public Library to get tips on how to make the most of their years at NC State. Area network alumni leaders Bruce Lennon and Brian Price served as hosts for the evening.
At least a couple of the incoming students come from families with long ties to NC State. Lauren Brame from Hoggard High School in Wilmington will be a fourth-generation Wolfpacker. Both of Brame’s parents, a grandfather and a great grandfather went to NC State. Nathan Miller from Pender High School in Burgaw is a third-generation Wolfpacker.
The Alumni Association will be hosting a similar event in Greensboro on Thursday evening.
