The NC State family will get a chance Sunday to celebrate the life of Dr. George T. Barthalmus, a longtime professor and administrator who passed away this week.
A celebration of Barthalmus’ life is scheduled for 2-4 pm Sunday at the McKimmon Center. The family asks that everyone wear brightly colored clothing, noting that Barthalmus would not have wanted anything somber.
Also, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the George T. and Marina T. Barthalmus Scholarship at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Barthalmus taught more than 16,000 students as a professor of zoology and biology at NC State. In 1998, Barthalmus became associate dean and director of academic programs at CALS. Barthalmus retired in 2001, but later came back to the university as interim director of the University Honors Program and then director of the Office of Undergraduate Research.
