NC State professor elected to National Academy of Sciences

fred-gould-0008Dr. Fred Gould, William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor of Entomology, has been elected into the National Academy of Sciences.

Gould is one nine current professors at NC State to be elected into the Academy, one of the world’s most important scientific societies. He is one of 72 new members and 18 foreign associates elected this year.

Gould studies the ecology and genetics of insect pests to improve food production and human and environmental health. One of his research projects involves genetically modifying mosquitoes to reduce their capacity to carry and spread dengue fever.
