Phil Freelon ’75 of Durham and Susan Ward of Raleigh have been appointed to the NC State University Board of Trustees.
Freelon is president of The Freelon Group, an architectural firm that is working on the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, which will be located on the National Mall. He is a member of the UNC-TV board and a former member of NC State’s Design Guild Board and Board of Visitors.
Ward is a philanthropist and retired artist who has contributed to and raised money for scholarships for NC State students in a variety of disciplines. She is president of the state Veterinary Medical Foundation. As an artist-in-residence in Kinston, Ward worked with physically and developmentally disabled students.
