NC State alumnus wins teaching award at Virginia Tech

s_mike-denbow2D. Michael Denbow ’80 PHD has been awarded the 2011 Certificate of Teaching Excellence from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech.

Denbow, a professor of animal and poultry sciences, conducts research on the neurochemical control of food intake. He is considered one of the College’s top academic advisors, having won the Alumni Award for Academic Advising last year.

“Dr. Denbow continually captures students’ interest with wit, humor, sincerity, and breadth of subject matter,” said David Gerrard, head of the Department of Animal and Poultry Science. “He continually strives to make matter relevant to his audience, giving examples of how the material affects them and their everyday lives.”
