Sounds like quite a cast of characters to help NC State observe the 2011 History Weekend being hosted this weekend by the Department of History.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. All events take place at 232A Withers Hall.

The weekend kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Friday with a showing of an episode of “The Simpsons and a clip from the John Adams mini-series. An interesting discussion is certain to follow.

The weekend resumes Saturday morning with a 10 a.m. talk by Jill Lepore, chair of the history and literature program at Harvard University and a staff writer at The New Yorker. She will discuss her book, “The Whites of Their Eyes: The Tea Party’s Revolution and the Battle over American History.”

Lepore will be available after the lecture to sign her books.
