It’s Spring Break at NC State this week, but that doesn’t mean everyone is gone to the beach for some fun in the sun.

Many students have opted instead for what is called an alternative service break. They are spending their time helping others in places as far away as Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, or as nearby as Philadelphia.

You can follow some of their adventures – and the sense of accomplishment they get from helping others – at the university’s collection of blogs being done by students taking part in alternative service breaks.
