Auctioneer still seeking buyer for NC State memorabilia

A collection of trophies, plaques and other memorabilia associated with Willis Casey, a former athletics director and longtime swimming coach at NC State, are still for sale.

The memorabilia had been heading for the dump before they were salvaged by someone who recognized them. The items were put up for auction in Raleigh on Saturday, but were not sold.

Jason McCoon ’00, the owner of Tory Hill Auction Co., says he has been surprised by the lack of interest in the items. They include a 1957 Dixie Classic Tournament Manager Trophy, a 1957 ACC Tournament Manager Trophy and a Dixie Classic Founders Trophy.

McCoon says he expected to get more inquiries about the memorabilia.

“I’m kind of flummoxed by it,” McCoon says. “I’m still trying to find a buyer for them.”

I would like to know if anyone knows the value of a deck of Wolfpack playing cards featuring players from 1957.
