Former North Carolina Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. ’59, ’62 MSED, will soon be able to claim degrees from the three major universities in the Triangle.
Hunt, who earned a law degree from UNC Chapel Hill, will receive an honorary degree in May from Duke University.
Duke announced this week that Hunt is one of seven people who will receive honorary degrees during Duke’s commencement exercises on May 15. Others include Rita Dove, a former U.S. poet laureate; Alan Page, an NFL Hall of Fame member who went on to become a judge; and Eric Shinseki, secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
