At its Jan. 15 meeting, the NC State Alumni Association Board of Directors unanimously voted to require current and incoming board members to make a $1,000 contribution, if possible, on an annual basis to the Caldwell Fellows scholarship program. The Alumni Association created the program in 1977 to honor the legacy of Chancellor John T. Caldwell. It merged with the NC Fellows program in 2000 and today is the only university-wide merit award for first-year students at NC State.
