On NC State Day of Giving, you can find your passion — whether it’s student access, research, faculty excellence, meeting basic needs, Extension services, inclusion or experiential learning, just to name a few.
Enjoy a menu of seasonal food and drinks with a southern fusion flare at Lakeside Kitchen, located at the Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center. Lakeside uses ingredients from local farms, the NC State Farmers Market and the chef’s garden, located on the outdoor patio of the alumni center.
“We met at a party during Wolfpack Welcome Week. We were both in @ncstatedesign and knew many of the same people. We went on a date the next week and then Brian found out his mother had been diagnosed with cancer. I never heard back from him, as we did not know each other well and he was understandably upset and overwhelmed.
My senior year, I went downtown with some girls from my design studio to see our professor show his fashion line at CAM. Brian was there and came up to me after the show. I loved his adorable knit tie he was wearing and really did enjoy getting to know him on our first date, so I decided to give it another chance. I’m glad I did, because after 7 years of marriage and becoming parents, he is still my best friend and my whole heart.
We would take walks to the Rose Garden, go to trivia with friends, and go bowling at the Alley. He brought me snacks in studio and cheered me on at Art2Wear and fashionSPARK. We ran the Krispy Kreme Challenge together a few times. Now, we enjoy going to football games, walking through the design school buildings and returning to all of our favorite places around campus.
Our 2-year-old daughter already knows how to do the Wolfpack ‘Howl’ and is getting pretty proficient at making a Wolfie with her tiny fingers. And Brian’s mom has been cancer free for years. I treasure our Wolfpack love story and love my State Mate!”

What’s your NC State love story? ❤️🐺
“My wife says we first officially met as a part of the National Society of Leadership and Success but I had recognized her from working at Carmichael Gym. She was a swim instructor and I was a lifeguard. One fateful day, she came into the guard office asking for an extra towel. I quickly reached to grab one for her, our eyes met and the rest was history.”
“He proposed in June of 2021 (with a little help from Dr. Stafford!) in the Belltower and we got married a year later. We made sure to bring a little piece of NC State to our wedding by having @ncstatehowlingcow ice cream for dessert instead of cake!”

Guts, glory, glaze. 🍩🏃♂️
This morning, our daring runners completed the @krispykremechallenge — a student-led event that challenges participants to dash two and a half miles from the Belltower to the nearest Krispy Kreme, eat 12 doughnuts and then finish with another two-and-a-half-mile run back to their starting point. But who won the first test of gastrointestinal fortitude?

It began nearly 40 years ago with a casual game of soccer, open to anyone who wanted to kick the ball around for an hour or two. The Saturday Soccer Club, as it came to be known, led to lifelong friendships from around the globe long after their days on campus were over. ⚽️ #NCStateMag Meet the NC State University alumni who’ve kept those connections alive via the link in our profile bio.
